The VW MiniLogger is a reliable, low-cost datalogger designed to monitor a single VW sensor, such as a piezometer or crackmeter.
The MiniLogger is designed for difficult environments. It is rated for temperatures from -20 to +50 degrees C; its encapsulated electronics are impervious to humidity and condensation, and it stores data in secure, non-volatile memory.
Applications
MiniLoggers are ideal for monitoring (1) a small number of sensors, (2) sensors that are distributed over a wide area, (3) remote sensors that are not easily connected to a centralized data acquisition system.
It is possible to deploy four or five MiniLoggers for less than the cost of a full-size logger, while significantly reducing cable costs and eliminating the need for complex programming.
Operation
Specifications
Included with the MiniLogger: The MiniLogger Manager program for Windows 95/98/NT, an interface cable, and a user's manual.
Excitation Type: Reads one VW sensor using a sweep-type pluck. Four user-selectable sweeps cover frequencies from 450 to 6000 Hz.
Data Storage: Stores 2,000 readings with date and time in secure, non-volatile memory. You can set the logger to halt recording when memory is full or continue recording and overwrite the earliest readings.
Reading Schedule: Set a start time and a reading interval. The shortest interval is two seconds. The longest interval is one week.
Data Retrieval: Requires interface cable (included) and Windows 95/98/NT computer running the MiniLogger Manager program.
Engineering Units: The Manager program (included) can apply calibration factors to generate engineering units when it retrieves data. The resulting data file will then contain both the original Hz readings as well as the readings in engineering units.
Data Format: You can save readings into a comma-delimited ASCII file, ready for your spreadsheet. Or, if you also use a CR10 data logger, you can save readings in a .dat file for processing along with your CR10 data.
Power: Two D-cell batteries provide four months of data logging.
Weatherproofing: MiniLogger electronics are completely encapsulated in waterproof resin, so box can be opened in the field.
Dimensions: 100 x 100 x 90 mm high (4 x 4 x 3.5 inch).
